Privacy
One thing about you is recorded: a server log of requests, and a request carries your IP address. It is kept 90 days. There are no analytics, no cookies and no accounts, so there is nothing to consent to.
What is recorded
The site is served by CloudFront, and CloudFront's standard access log is switched on. It writes one line per request: the time, your IP address, the address you asked for including anything after the question mark, the status we answered with, the bytes sent, your browser's user-agent string and the page you arrived from.
An IP address is personal data, so this page exists. There is nothing to attach it to — no account, no name, no email — but that does not make it nothing.
It is on deliberately, and for one purpose. There are no analytics here, so the log is the only place a count of whether anyone reads the site can come from. That is the whole use it is put to.
How long it is kept
90 days. The log bucket carries an expiry rule that deletes each file at that age, so it happens because the storage is configured to do it and not because someone remembered. Nothing is copied out first.
What is not collected
No analytics of any kind — no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no beacon, nothing counting you page to page. No cookies: the site sets none, and the log is configured not to record any. No accounts and no sign-in. No advertising and no third-party trackers. No contact form, which is why the contact page is an address rather than a box.
The fonts, the images, the styles and the scripts are all served from this domain. An ordinary page on this site loads nothing from anywhere else. There are two exceptions and they are both below.
The map pages are an exception
District map pages draw their background from tile.openstreetmap.org, the OpenStreetMap Foundation's public tile server. Your browser fetches those tiles directly, so on those pages — and only those — your IP address and the tiles you asked for reach a party we do not run and cannot speak for. Every other page makes no off-site request at all.
“Use my location”
The button asks your browser for a coordinate, compares it against a list of district centres downloaded from this site, and sends you to the nearest district we hold. That comparison happens in your browser. The coordinate is never sent to us; the only thing that reaches the server is the district page you then load, exactly as though you had clicked it. Refusing the prompt is a normal answer and the text box beside it does the same job.
What your browser keeps
One value: the fuel grade you last chose, held in local storage under pl.grade so pages open on your fuel rather than on petrol. It stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and clearing this site's data removes it. It is not a cookie and nothing but this site can read it.
